I’m not too much of a man
I can admit I’ve got to get a bit of help. Bit of back up. I’m phoning the doctor shortly and self-prescribing the various calf and achilles (Gastrocnemius and Soleus) stretches I already know in the meantime.
Most of what I read online says not stretching, changing the regime or poor shoes are common causes. Since I got those shoes some weeks back, I’ve had two significant injuries. But I will throw my hands up to not stretching religiously.
Let’s not lose our heads:
- It’s not acute pain, it’s dull.
- I’ve rested a week already.
- I rested straight away.
- I can still cycle to keep up cardio.
- 2 weeks of tapering ahead in any case.
- Could ultimately defer until next year if medical advice says ‘no’.
I don’t want to let people down. I want to complete the marathon, not become a DNF (‘did not finish’ - it’s an endurance race term, much feared). It’s a long haul one way or another.
More news as I get it.
